regarding the strengthening and potential closure of Skirden Bridge.

Why does the bridge need strengthening?

- Why not weight restrictions? - many already exist. - Impractical
- It would prevent the movement of farm vehicles, fire engines
etc.
- How many 44 tonnes vehicles have used the bridge in the last

- How often will the bridge be subject to all 44 tonnes? Are axle
weights not more important? No

If LCC insist that the bridge can be strengthened:
- Will the villagers have a temporary bridge
for the duration of the work? No
- How long will the work take? One
week setting up (lights) 4 weeks closed 1 week close (lights) - This
is an estimate - it could be longer
- Can flood relief pipes be built into the structure, as discussed
previously? No
If there is to be no temporary bridge:
- How long will the work take?
- What arrangements will be made for pedestrians? There will be pedestrian
access over river at all times.
- What arrangements will be made for people who wish to park on the
Copy Nook side of the bridge? LCC are meeting local landowner to
investigate secure parking on the football field.
- Can the bridge be open to traffic early morning/late evening?
No
- What arrangements will be made with regard to school buses and
service buses? Planned for School holidays. LCC will liaise with
schools.
- Will residents be compensated for any additional transport costs
caused by the closure? People can write in and claim costs, such
claims will be handled by LCC legal department
- Will local businesses be compensated for loss of earnings? People
can write in and claim costs, such claims will be handled by LCC
legal department
