| A good attendance of members were transported
from the wet and windy January evening to midsummer gardens
around the UK when Michael Myers shared his Favourite Gardens
of Britain with the Club. The talk was illustrated with slides
of well known gardens such as Sissinghurst, Hidcot and Harlow
Carr, but there were also many less popular gardens which were
absolutely beautiful and inspired members to plan ahead to
next summer when the sun will be shining. Mr. Myers was thanked
by Mrs. Knowles.
The business meeting followed
when it was confirmed that this year’s show will
be held a week earlier, on Sunday 19 August 2007. The Christmas
dinner at the Spread Eagle
had been successful with thirty members participating.
In order to ascertain what the membership preferred with
regard to visits, a short questionnaire had been circulated
and members were asked to participate with further suggestions
if possible.
Margaret Middleton thanked the tea hostesses, Mrs. Hartshorne,
Mrs. Hayes and Mrs. Lord and reminded members that at the
next meeting on 14 February, which will also be the AGM,
Mrs. Sheena Hesketh will be giving a talk on Wild Flowers
of Origan and Northern California, always an interesting
speaker.
