B-by-B  C of E Primary School -
Newsletter dated 9 September 2009

Dear Parents

As the new school year begins there are a number of points to bring to your attention.

• Firstly, we welcome some new faces to our school:- Evie, Emelia, Caelan, William and Millie make up our new reception class and we wish them and their families every happiness in their time at our school.

• Parents evening – our first parent’s evening is to be held on Wednesday 21st October. This initial parents evening is pastoral in nature, addressing how they have settled in and setting some targets for the year ahead. On this evening every parent will be able to find out more about BIG WRITING – an initiative we are developing this term. This will be presented by the staff at 6pm, and then parents will have the opportunity to speak to staff on a personal basis to discuss their child as they wish. More details to follow nearer the time.

• After school clubs this half term:
Monday – Prosport 3.30 – 4.30 (letter attached)
Wednesday – Hockey (with Mrs Towler) 3.30 – 4.30 and Cookery (with Mrs Eidsforth)
Thursday – Football coaching with Coerver coaching 3.30 - 4.30 (letter attached)
Please note: to make sure everyone gets a chance and for health and safety reasons each half term cookery will be limited to a year group. This half term it will be for Year 6. Mrs Eidsforth will send out details to the group before the first session.

• Swimming starts next Tuesday 15th September and we leave school each week at 1.15pm. Girls should wear all in one swimsuits and boys trunks not shorts. Long hair should be tied back. Fees for this half term are £12 per child and cheques should be made payable to LCC.

• Guitars – please note that the new day for guitar lessons is on Monday between 9.30 and 11 am. Fees for this half term should be £30, however for those who paid for the full half term last academic year there are 2 weeks credit and this brings it to £20. Cheques payable to LCC please.

• Data Collection sheets – It is vital that we have all the correct contact details and information about your child up to date. Please find attached a sheet detailing the computer record for your child. I would be grateful if you could check that this is correct and should amendments be required, please change on the sheet. All sheets need to be returned as soon as possible signed by you to confirm their accuracy.

If you need any more information about anything that is going on in school you are most welcome to contact us.

Yours sincerely

Mr D Lloyd
