B-by-B  C of E Primary School -
1/2 term Newsletter dated 15 February 2008
Dear Parents

I would like to thank children, staff, governors and parents for making me so welcome at school. I’ve had a very enjoyable half term.

On Sunday 2nd March children and staff will be attending the Mothering Sunday service in Church at 11.15am. The children will be playing a part in the service, if anyone can’t attend please would you contact me at school as soon as possible.

We will be continuing with our swimming programme from 4th March for 14 weeks until 24th June.

The Life Education Bus will be visiting school on Monday 25th February. This is a mobile classroom where children can investigate “life skills” and issues they may face as they group. The programme of work is designed especially for each age group as there is also a parents “drop in” time from 3.05 pm – 3.30 pm

Please note: there will be a FOBBS meeting at the Copy Nook on Tuesday 26th February at 7.30pm.

An overnight trip to Whitehough – an outdoor activity centre in Barley has been organised for our year 5/6 children. Working with experts they can experience caving, high ropes at Survival skills. The children will be accompanied by Mrs Walmsley and Mrs Towler.

Total performance soccer will be running an after school club for four weeks on a Friday from 7th March from 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm. Pro sport continue to provide football skills in school on a Thursday afternoon.

Hopefully, an after school science club will run for 8 weeks in the Spring term as a follow on from the Mad Science assembly. We are hoping that we will be able to run this club jointly with Grindleton Primary School.

Year 6 will be receiving cycling proficiency training from 12th to 14th March. More details will be sent after half term.

Next half term the whole school topic will be Transport. A trip to York Railway museum is planned.

We will be having a visit from a celebrated author, Mr David Webb on 17th March. There will be a writing workshop for the KS2 children and storytelling with KS1. Mr Webb will have some signed copies of his books on sale on the day. His web site address is www.dwebb1.supanet.com.

Mr Lloyd and Mrs Giles are continuing to take the children for French sessions each Friday. We are also hoping to establish some pen friends with a school in France. This is linked to the French students who spent some time in our school before Christmas. Year 5 and 6 also attended a French play recently at Bowland High School which they thoroughly enjoyed.

Yours sincerely
