Happy New Year.
We welcome to our school our new Headteacher, Mr David
Lloyd and our new part time teacher, Mrs Annabella Towler.
We also welcome three new pupils, 2 boys in Year 3 and
1 girl in Year 5. They are all settling in well and are
already making valuable contributions.
In our first week back school had to close on one afternoon
due to the severe weather conditions. After hearing that
Sawley bridge had been cut off it was decided that the
children should go home much to their delight.
Year 6 were invited to a multi skills competition at Bowland
High School the day after our return to school. They all
thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and worked well. Meantime
Years 3 and 4 are practising hard and learning new gym
skills for the forthcoming gym competition at Bowland in
mid February. As the pool in Clitheroe is closed for a
short time due to repair works, we will continue our swimming
lessons in March.
Our whole school topic this term is Light. The children
will be investigating and making their own circuits in
addition to learning about light and dark.
As part of their transport section in history, the Key
Stage 1 children studied the differences between old and
new vehicles. Mrs Eidsforth arranged for a 1949 Austin
16 to be brought to school. The children studied the differences
between the classic attributes of the vehicle against a
modern day mini.
Many thanks to all who donated Tesco Sports vouchers to
school. We have had a tremendous response as usual and
are now awaiting delivery of several sports items.
School continues to recycle as much as possible. There
is a paper collection cube in the lane at the back of the
school for your newspapers and magazines. In school, we
have collection points for batteries, mobile phones and
ink cartridges/toners. Any of these items may be brought
to school and disposed of at these collection points.
