Bowland First Responders
70% of Heart Attacks occur outside
a Hospital
The Bowland first Responder Scheme is a vital resource in our valley and we need your help. It operates under the Lancashire Ambulance Service's 'Heart of Lancashire Appeal' and has been made possible by kind donations locally.
The aim of the scheme is to improve the chances of survival and react quickly in the early stages of a heart attack and breathing difficulties. The First Responders also offer support and reasssurance whilst waiting for the ambulance.
The Bowland First Responders were established in March 2001. Three years on we have had several call-outs, which the majority resulted in the Responder arriving long before the ambulance.
Remember if you can only give one hour a week, then that is one hour more cover than we would have had without you.
