Members enjoyed a most interesting visit to Lower Heugh Cottage at Eastby, the home of Mr. & Mrs. Nash.

This is the only truly Japanese garden in the UK and Mr. Nash escorted the group around the large quite stunning garden, explaining in detail how it depicted the Japanese style. The evening closed with tea and delicious home-made refreshments indoors.

The next meeting will be a visit to Summerdale Garden and Nursery at Lupton. Members who have not already done so are asked to advise either Margaret Middleton or Pat Cunningham of their intentions to join the party in order to assess numbers and also obtain directions.

The Annual Show will be held on 8 August at the Village Hall. Schedules can be obtained from the tea shop in the village or from the above.
