The Annual Bolton-by-Bowland Sloe Gin Competition was hosted by Colin and Anne Darlington at Greenside Cottage in the village, on Monday 28th December, 2006.

The judges were Allan Clements (Chairman), Iain Harris, and Kathy McArdle. There were around 20 entries, and the rules were simple - the sloe gin had to be made from sloes collected in 2009 from around the village.
