Bolton-by-Bowland Fell Race The race is 8 miles, over the fells and becks around Bolton-by-Bowland. There is 800 feet of ascent over the course. Denise Park writes: Tom Cornthwaite
twisted his ankle severely at the 2nd stream crossing when he had
a strong lead in the race. It was obvious within a few steps that
he had a serious injury but he was determined to continue. Bashir
Hussain, an international runner and Junior Manager to the England
Mountain Running Team, overtook Tom but realised he was injured.
Tom managed to grit his teeth until the finishing line when he collapsed
to the floor in 2nd place. It is possible that Tom has a fracture – an
incredible performance to finish in second position.
