Bolton-by-Bowland v Rathmell

Rathmell easily beat BBB on Bolton’s return to Cappelside.
Cappelside: (BBB won toss): Rathmell beat BBB by 86 runs.

The setting at Cappelside was as spectacular as Bolton’s homes turf but the Rathmell side showed no mercy to a Bolton side that right from the start were apprehensive about the newly laid Rathmell wicket. Despite some fine opening bowling from Matthew Sutton and Martin Brown, Rathmell proceeded steadily putting on 83 for the first wicket before Chris Seed took the wickets of the Rathmell openers. R Barton, ‘The Bowland Maths teacher’, then taught one of his students (Chris Billows) how to reach 50 quickly eventually scoring 61. Barton then taught a lesson in subtraction as Bolton’s wickets fell from 10 left to 5 accruing only 25 runs. Barton took 3 for29 supported by Huggins and Snowdon whom also took three Bolton wickets. Dave Ashton and Matthew Sutton pushed Bolton’s score to a nearly respectable 101 but with this run of successive defeats the committee will be taking selection very seriously this Thursday.
