Casuals' ringers win the day
on a fabulous afternoon
SKIRDEN SIDE (Courthouse Casuals won the toss): BBB were beaten by 7 wickets.
Stung by two years of loss, Courthouse Casuals injected in two fast bowlers (Beale & Keyte) of a quality rarely seen on the village cricket pitch. The day started with the traditional generosity of John and Joanna Aspinal. A wonderful lunch set in the most exquisite setting. Cricket had to follow, and the Casuals chose to put BBB to the sword. Chris Bosonnet struggled to survive for several balls as the BBB batsmen watched open mouthed at the speed of the bowling. Sadly Chris went for zero. Nigel Bunyan showed that he wasn't frightened of the bowling by punching four good fours, but was then beaten. Tim Hall fashioned his normal innings, scoring an excellent 49. The innings ended at 145 all out, in the last over.
It looked good for BBB when the Casuals started batting. Gordon Wilson was fired up (though nothing like the pace of the Casuals openers), and his good movement in the air and off the pitch took BBB to 20 for 3. Sadly it was a false dawn, and Gulley (73 not out) and Silk (58 not out) knocked off the remaining runs with too much ease.
A lovely day, enjoyed by everyone.
