Bolton-by-Bowland v Hurst Green
Home, 16 May
Bolton by Bowland miss chance of victory over Hurst Green.
SKIRDENSIDE (HG won toss): Hurst Green beat BBB by 85 runs.
Bolton’s bowlers restricted Hurst Green to 50 runs after 20 overs
and had taken 4 wickets giving the home supporters hope of a fine victory
over a team containing several league players. Steven Booth (2 for 7 after
5 overs) and Richard Bedford (2 for 10 after 5 overs) were both then confronted
with HG’s middle order of McEwen , Jacques, Young and Hough who between
them rescued the match with a fine batting display with HG finally reaching
200 for 9 after 40 overs. In response Richard Bedford and Paul Levet put
on 33 for the first wicket before Levet was bowled by C Jacques. The experiment
of putting Levet into open was a success with the opening pair together for
10 overs. Richard Bedford went onto make 61 with the only other resistance
coming from Alan Winfrey. Steve Brown’s 4 was the only highlight for
Bolton towards the end of the game.
