Bolton-by-Bowland v Courthouse Casuals
Home, Saturday 10th July 2004
BBB batting too strong for the Courthouse.
SKIRDEN SIDE. On a magnificent (courtesy the Aspinalls) but wet day, Casuals were put into bat. Andrew Gully and Stratton produced an excellent 2nd wicket stand of 73, with Stratton eventually finishing with 64. Blair was 'steady as you go' with 18 not out, but ran out of partners - even the local import Darlington had to listen to the tumbling of wickets (his own). A memorable one handed catch by Hill dismissed host Edward Aspinall - off Hill's own bowling, of course. Brown led the bowling with 4 for 27. Casuals finished with 166.
BBB batting started with a golden duck, slip Gulley running round to leg slip to send wicketkeeper/opener Levet back to the pavilion without troubling the scorers. Thereafter it was all BBB. Harris crashed 54 quick runs, and Hall hit a now familiar elegant 50 not out against the Casuals to wrap it all up. Umpires J Aspinall and 'Trigger' Brunskill must be thanked for their 5 hour stint in the cold and rain. The inquest was held in the Coach. See the teams.
