Bolton-by-Bowland v Waddington
Away, 27 June 2004
David Ashton’s first runs on a Sunday save Bolton.
Waddington (BBB won toss): BBB beat Waddington by 2 wkts.
On a damp day Waddington batted first and scored
150 all-out with W Brooks scoring 44 off 80 balls. John Hill slowed down
the Waddington run rate with
some tight bowling and took the important wickets of Hopcroft and Drinkall.
Roger Wood, in for the injured Levet, kept wicket well and took a fine full
length dive catch to dismiss Sharples. Bolton were confident at tea thinking
only rain could prevent them from winning. However, after losing Reynolds
for 6 the experienced Bolton middle order underestimated Waddington captain
Draycott; his guile, cunning and experience led to their dismissals leaving
a tense finish. David Ashton and Roger Wood came to Bolton’s rescue,
Ashton scoring 39 off 50 balls. Bolton have now won six games out of nine
played.
