Bolton-by-Bowland v Roundhay
Home, Sunday 30th May 2004
Wilson subdues a good Roundhay side.
HOLMEFIELD (BBB won toss): BBB beat Roundhay by 23 runs.
Gordon Wilson scored an important 14 and then took 4 for 24 as Bolton beat a star studded Roundhay side who were ably led, by the near octogenarian, Eric Elspeth. Bolton scored 139 with French descendent Paul Levet top scorer with 36. All the main batsman contributed with the exception of Chris Bosonnet who was given out caught behind by ‘Trigger’ Brunskill. Bolton bowled well but were aware that with Arthur Hull (a good all-rounder and rumoured to have played professional cricket) still to come in at number 8 the game could swing to the visitors. In the end a good ball from Steven Booth, well caught by Paul Levet, saw him back to the pavilion leaving Wilson and Darlington to secure victory with some fine bowling. The ‘Thursday brigade’ of Wood, Mercer, Holden and Darlington all contributed well to what was a good victory.
