SETTLE: (Rathmell won toss): BBB beat Rathmell by 3 wickets

The team less N Bunyan plus G Wilson
Tim Hall, captain, took a hat trick
and scored 25 not out as BBB beat Rathmell in the opening game of the Thursday
Ribble Shield.
Bolton are defending the title and the opener against last years runners
up may decide the winners this year. Rathmell started well, with openers
Shepherd and Handy each scoring 25, finally reaching 102. Hall’s hat-trick
and Mick Smalley’s three wickets were both vital in securing victory
for Bolton. Again Bolton’s batting was poor with only Harris, Booth
and Hall reaching double figures leaving a tense finish which saw the Wicketkeepers
Union of Wood and Levet scramble 15 in the last two overs to secure victory
for Bolton with

balls left.
