Bolton-by-Bowland v Rathmell
Home, 25 April 2004
Bedford leads Bolton by Bowland to comfortable victory.
SKIRDEN SIDE (Rathmell won toss): BBB beat Rathmell by 85 runs.
A good crowd basking in the sun watched an efficient BBB side set a demanding target of 200 runs for their opponents on a slow soft outfield. Richard Bedford carried his bat for 82 with Stephen Booth adding a quick 68 which included four sixes.
Rathmell were slow to score as a result of tight bowling by Martin Brown (3 maidens) who was unlucky not to take Johnson’s wicket when Booth dropped a good chance. Simon Reynolds eased himself back into the new season and took two wickets late in his spell when Paul Levett, diving low to his left like Gordon Banks, and John Hunt, leaping like a gazelle, both took good catches. Richard Bedford and Alan Winfrey bowled economically with Winfrey bowling Snowden who was Rathmell’s top scorer with 39.
The bowlers were supported by a good all round fielding performance with Smalley and Holden prominent. Rathmell finished their 40 overs scoring 115 for 8.
