10 May 2009 v Hurst Green home
BBB won by 4 wkts
Hurst Green 111 all out
BBB 115 for 6
BBB did a great job in bowling out

well with 2 for 28 and 2 for 31
respectively. Dec Fitzhenry cleared out Hurst Green’s middle
order with 3 for 1. At 86 for 8 Bolton looked easy winners but
Hurst Green put on another 25 for their last two wickets. Bolton’s
batting started badly being 9 for 3 after 4 overs. Steve Booth
and Dec Fitzhenry steadied the ship scoring 42 and 22 respectively.
Mark Glover kept one end up supporting Johno and Bolton got to
100 for 4 before Johno was bowled for 22. Skipper Reynolds joined

by a catch took by Simon Reynolds which is currently catch of the
season. Nigel Bunyan took 5 for 28 and scored 84 in Bolton’s
reply. Shaun Lloyd also bowled well and returned 4 for 6. Again
Jake Lloyd again played well behind the stumps and scored the winning
runs in an unbeaten 19.

31 May 2009 v Skipton home
Geoff Billows sponsored game
Skipton beat BBB by 129 runs
Skipton 279 for 9
BBB 150 all out
A strong Skipton side comprising three first team players and a
good selection of second team players overpowered Bolton’s
bowling attack. Gary Owens top scored for Skipton with 76 off 34
balls hitting six 6’s in the process. Mark Glover was Bolton’s
best bower with 3 for 50 and Jake Lloyd again looked comfortable
behind the stumps taking two good catches. In Bolton’s reply
Harris, Bunyan, Johnson and Booth all made promising starts but
did not quite complete the job. Nevertheless it was an excellent
day’s cricket with a splendid tea provided by the chairman’s
wife with generous sponsorship from the President , Geoff Billows.

1 for 14.
Bolton man of match: Stephen Booth
Kent man of match: Graham Johnson
(In the return ‘friendly ‘game after the PO lunch Kent
beat Bolton. As it was a friendly Bunny’s 56 does not count
in the average calculations.)
14 June 2009 v Rathmell home
BBB won by 6 wickets.
Rathmell 143 all out
BBB 149 for 4
Bolton’s young bowlers, Sam Richardson, Mark Glover, and
Calum Harris were the reason that Bolton won this game with ease.
Sam took 5 for 31, Mark 0 for 11 and Calum 1 for 31 all off eight
overs. Iain Harris (33), Nigel Bunyan (40) and an unbeaten fifty
with a six off the last ball from Johno saw Bolton home.
Man of Match Sam Richardson
21 June 2009
Chatburn 20/20
Unfortunately Bolton came fourth out of four. As expected Chatburn
beat Low Moor in the final with Grindleton securing third place
at Bolton’s expense.
28 June 2009 v Waddington home
BBB won by 5 runs (Duckworth Lewis)
Waddington 156 all out
BBB 112 for 6 off 23.5 overs D/L target 107
Bolton’s bowlers performed well with Mark Glover 3 for 26,
Calum Harris 2 for 31 and Nigel Bunyan 4 for 7.. The fielding was
excellent with Jake Lloyd, Calum Harris, Chris Billows and Simon
Reynolds all getting a brace of catches. Simon Reynolds’ catch
to dismiss Chris Silverwood will qualify for catch of the season.
In reply Joe Bunyan scored 38 but the game was won with Rick Edmondson’s
measured 44 not out.
Men of Match Rick Edmondson and Nigel Bunyan
5 July 2009 v Hurst Green home
BBB won by 9 wkts
Hurst Green 98 all out
BBB 101 for 1 off 29 overs
The old adage of catches wins
matches was ably demonstrated by Bolton. In possibly the best ever
performance in the field 7 catches
were taken by J Reynolds, C Harris, P Smalley, D Bunyan (3) and
S Reynolds. Calum’s was judged the best and will qualify
for catch of the season. Joe Bunyan took 4 for 30 and then scored
a steady 48 not out. R Kelly was not out 36. Bolton’s ex
player Dec Fitzhenry had to be satisfied with 7 from the bat for
Hurst Green but bowled 8 overs for 10 runs but was unable to capture
a Bolton wicket.
Man of Match Joe Bunyan
5 July 2009 v CHC home
CHC won by 7 wkts
BBB 202 for 7 off 35 overs
CHC 203 for 3 off 32 overs
A much poorer fielding performance this
week cost Bolton the game against Court House Casuals. After another
splendid lunch, courtesy
of John and Joanna Aspinall, Edward Aspinall captain of Court House
Casuals put Bolton into bat. Johno’s return began spectacularly
with a six off the first ball of the innings only to dolly up a
catch off the next ball. Peter Iveson made 58 ably supported by
a Calum Harris 38 not out. At 77 for 2 , half way through the CHC
innings, Bolton looked set for victory but the bowling attack faded
leaving Harry Waldermann – Brown (ex Lehman’s and now
Barclays’ Capital) to score an unbeaten 82 supported by Stratton
who notched up 71 which included 11 fours and two 6’s.

19 July 2009 v Grindleton (Bob Little sponsored game) home
Bolton won by 9wkts
Grindleton 141 for 5 off 40 overs
BBB 145 for 1 off 29 overs
It has taken Bolton four attempts to win this Bob Little sponsored
game against Grindleton. A good crowd saw Grindleton make a slow
start reaching 25 for 3 after 10 overs. Calum Harris (1 for 16)
, Mark Glover ( 1 for 15) and Stephen Booth ( 0 for 9) all bowled
well with excellent economy. Chalky and C Whittaker put on 80 for
the fourth wicket. Joe Bunyan who captained the side took 2 for
10 and scored 68 not out and with Ryan Kelly (58 no) easily reached
the Grindleton score with Bolton’s 9 wickets intact and 11
overs left. Bunny senior failed again!!!

2 August 2009 v Roundhay away
Roundhay won by 26 runs
Roundhay 175 all out
Bolton 149 for 9 off 40 overs
John Reynolds took 5 wickets for 18
runs ably supported by Andrew Booth whose 2 for 8 off 8 overs was
as an aggressive spell of bowling
recorded by a Bolton player in recent years. Iain Harris took out
Roundhay’s middle order recording 3 for 33 off 5 overs. Bob
Little made his debut for Bolton and secured 11 fielding points.
Bolton in reply was 68 for 5 off 20 overs but the reasonable score
at the end was due to Simon Reynolds’ 48 not out.

9 August 2009 v Waddington away
Waddington won by 28 runs
Waddington 143 all out 36.3 overs
Bolton 115 all out off 36.3 overs
John Reynolds again took five
wickets (for 23) and now owes the chairman two pints. Shaun Lloyd
scored an impressive 43 fielding
points for a mixture of feats in the field which include three
catches. The game was going away from Bolton, due to Jamie Hopcroft
hitting 67 off 70 balls , with the home side on 132 for 5 after
33 overs. However, John and Simon Reynolds were able to dismiss
Waddington’s last 6 batsmen for 18 leaving Bolton a target
of 3.5 runs an over. Bolton’s batting never got going despite
low 20 scores from Iain Harris and Matt Sutton. Johno reached 15
off 10 balls but the challenge faded when he was out caught behind.
16-August 2009 v Sabden home
Sabden won by 33 runs
Sabden 136 all out 38 overs
Bolton 103 all out 33.3 overs
With Sabden at 94 for 9 Bolton were reasonably confident of scoring
a 100 runs to secure victory. However, Sabden’s last pair
put on 42 for the last partnership leaving Bolton with a target
of 137. Nigel Bunyan bought 4 Sabden wickets for 37 with Bolton’s
fielding performance looking pretty reasonable. There were three
excellent catches: Nigel Bunyan a good caught and bowled (8.0),
Phil Smalley’s catch in the slips ( 8.5) and Johno’s
dive to a fast ball to his right (9.8),which currently in the chairman’s
opinion, is catch of the season. Simon Reynolds dropped a skier
on the boundary. He was in a good position to take the catch with
his hands cupped like a pair of barrels but somehow it thumped
off his chest to the ground. In rugby it would not have been a
knock on as it went straight through his hands without contact.
Bolton’s batting was at best mediocre with only Ryan Kelly
(25) and Calum Harris (24) reaching reasonable scores.

22-August 2009 v Hebden Bridge away
BBB won by 113 runs
BBB 164 all out 28.2 overs
Hebden Bridge 51 all out 20.2 overs
Hebden’s cricket field was small and compact similar to Bolton’s
previous ground at Home field. Skipper Reynolds, who is becoming
the worst tosser in the village, finally finding a poorer tosser
in the HebdenBridge captain and elected to bat. Despite wickets
falling regularly Bolton recorded 164 with Ryan Kelly (44) top
scoring backed up by debutant for the season Chris Seed’s
32. Phil Smalley knocked 3 sixes and 2 fours batting at eight for
27. Calum Harris again bowled well taking 2 for 19 only to be eclipsed
by Papa Harris who took 2 for 6. Ryan Kelly took 3 for 11 which
with his 44 made him man of the match. Shaun Lloyd was again outstanding
in the field.
Afterwards in the bar, the chairman was persuaded by persons unknown
that Philip Smalley with his fine slip catch and knock at the
end of the innings should jointly qualify for the man of the
match award with Ryan.
Men of the match Ryan Kelly and Philip Smalley
PS The chairman enjoyed his drink after the match with Jill and
Philip. Jill presented Philip’s case very well.
29-August 2009 v I Harris XI home
BBB won by 54 runs
BBB 150 for 13 wkts in 42 overs
I Harris XI 96 for 13 wkts in 29
overs
Bolton’s top scorer was Sam Richardson with 31 invaluable
runs after the first three Bowland batsmen were all run out. I
Harris and S Watts were the only partnership that the visitors
could muster . Johno had earlier took the important wickets of
Crawford, Burnhill and Cambridge blue Hancock (a golden duck) who
was brilliantly caught by C Billows. Man of the match D Johnson
with good displays from Sam, Calum and Mark
13-Sept 2009 v Strathern XI home
Strathern won by 57 runs
Strathern 195 for 9 wkts in 40 overs
BBB 148 all out 40 overs
Joe Bunyan and Simon Reynolds
took three wickets with Simon finishing off the Strathern innings
on a hat trick. Bolton’s response
was poor with only Sam Richardson (40) showing any great resistance.
Man of the match S Richardson
27-Sept 2009 v Settle away
BBB won by 3 wkts
Settle 237 for 8 off 40 overs
BBB 239 for 7 off 38 overs
Bolton achieved a great win against a young but very talented Settle
side. In a high scoring game on the big Settle pitch Bolton worked
hard to keep the Settle score reasonable. Simon Cherry (3 for 38)
, Iain Harris (1 for 23) and Ryan Kelly (2 for 43) were Bolton’s
best bowlers. S Booth got his head down and made 91 in reply supported
by guest John Tarbox (Bowland High’s deputy head and Settle
star) who hit 93 not out.
